SENIOR ACCOUNTANT POSITION
Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Inc. (SMRLS) is seeking to fill a Senior Accountant position based in its St. Paul Administrative office. This position will report to the Director of Finance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage grant agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, policies, and reporting requirements.
· Assist with grant budget development, monitoring expenses, and tracking grant-related activity.
· Prepare and maintain financial records and reports for grantors and stakeholders.
· Collaborate with internal teams and grantors to address financial inquiries.
· Oversee accounts payable and receivable.
· Manage general ledger and assist month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
· Prepare monthly reconciliations.
· Assist with the preparation of various audits (financial and grant-related) as necessary.
· Resolve general financial concerns, process improvements and various annual projects.
· Assist with general office and other duties as assigned and to use firm policies and procedures to safeguard assets and maintain data confidentiality.
· Comply with SMRLS’ policies, practices, and guiding principles and be able to accept flexible work assignments as responsibilities change over time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A 4-year degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred. 2-5 years of general accounting practice (GAAP) required, with preference given to those with non-profit accounting experience.
· Grant Management experience is preferred.
· Prior experience with the Oracle/NetSuite accounting package highly desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
· Demonstrate above average attention to detail and accuracy, ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
· Possess effective verbal and written communication skills (in English), and able to prioritize work to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
· Experienced in an office environment and prepared to demonstrate good judgement. Able to learn quickly, work independently and constructively with others in a team setting.
STARTING DATE: Immediate opening.
RATE OF PAY: $74,557+ DOE, pursuant to scale, with excellent benefits.
